Treat every distinct LED strip specification as its own order line until the supplier confirms in writing that two variants share the same production specification and minimum. LEDStripStar lists a standard MOQ of 500 meters per specification and an OEM/private-label MOQ of 2,000 meters per specification. A project total across different models does not automatically replace the minimum for each line.
Importers and contractors often place several models on one purchase order. Its total meter figure can therefore include multiple separate specifications.
What MOQ per Specification Means
An MOQ is attached to the defined product line in the supplier’s offer. The product family alone does not define that line. A change in model, voltage, CCT, PCB width, protection construction, reel format or private-label packing may require a separate specification. The supplier should identify which requested differences create separate minimums in its quotation.
For example, “COB strip” is a family description. A buyer still needs to state the exact model or required width, voltage, color, power, protection and reel arrangement. When any of those differ between requested items, list them separately and ask the supplier to confirm the applicable MOQ for each.
The applicable category depends on the requested product and branding. Ask the supplier to identify the MOQ category on each quote line, especially when a standard model includes custom labels or packaging.
Build the Order by Specification
Start with a line-item schedule rather than adding all project meters together. One row should describe one requested specification. Include:
- Product family and exact model code, if selected.
- Voltage, color or CCT, CRI target and stated output requirements.
- PCB width, construction and protection requirement.
- Reel length, cut interval and lead-wire or connector details.
- Quantity for that line, separate from the total order quantity.
- Standard packaging or the exact OEM label and packaging request.
Then group the rows into standard catalog items and custom or private-label items. Ask the supplier to mark the applicable MOQ beside each row and flag any configuration that needs technical review. If a specification is not settled, keep it as a question rather than combining it with another row to reach a minimum.
Use the product catalog to shortlist the model families, then compare exact product fields in the datasheet guide. The catalog lists multiple voltages, constructions, colors and protection options, so a family name alone may not be specific enough for an order.
Plan Standard and OEM Lines Separately
Standard catalog supply and private-label work have different stated minimums on the site. Keep separate totals for each. If only the outer carton needs a label, state the label, artwork, packaging unit and quantity so the supplier can confirm whether the request is standard packing or an OEM requirement. Do not assume a branding change has no effect on the production minimum.
If several SKUs share a brand but differ in technical specification, keep each technical line distinct and ask which minimum applies to each one. If the project needs standard product for some areas and branded packaging for others, mark those requirements on their own rows.
For sample and bulk approval, identify the exact line that a sample represents. A sample for one voltage or CCT does not establish the specification for every other line. The sample approval guide covers the approval record and change control.
Avoid Common Quantity Assumptions
Do not assume that different CCTs can be combined into one minimum, that several voltages count as one SKU, or that extra meters on one model can cover a shortfall on another. Ask for written confirmation if the supplier says variants can share a production batch or MOQ.
Also separate reel length from order quantity. A request for a particular reel length affects packing and production planning, but the quote should still state the total quantity and the MOQ basis for the specification. Confirm the number of reels and any partial reel rather than relying on a meter total alone.
When the planned demand is below a stated minimum, the practical choices are to reduce the number of variants, select an existing catalog specification, or ask the supplier whether another arrangement is available. The answer depends on the selected model and production plan; do not include an unconfirmed exception in the budget.
Send a Clear Quantity Schedule
Send the supplier a table with one line per specification, the quantity requested, whether it is standard or OEM, reel and packing details, and the destination. Ask the supplier to return the confirmed MOQ and quoted quantity on the same lines. This makes it clear which items meet the minimum and which need a decision.
The OEM service page lists customization options and the published OEM minimum. For a model-matched offer, submit the line-item schedule through the quotation form. Standard and OEM quantities should be confirmed per specification before the purchase order is issued.
